I will be hosting a Friday night tournament this coming Friday if anyone is interested please be here by 6:45 if you are coming.
This will probably be a single tournamnet with $20 buy in blinds will be lenghthened and the chip count will start at 3,000.
This is different fron what Jim is doing he is starting a new league with all the stats and it will be similar to what Kurt is doing.
Please post if you are coming so I know how many places to set up.

I am planning on coming. I will be a little late. Have to wait for Donna to get home from swimming.
George is in for Friday
I will be there. I guess my thought process was to start using this night as the first of the new league, keeping results, points, etc.
It seems many like the idea of a single, longer, more chip tournament and I kind of agree.
If we get done early we could always hold a second, non-league tournament, of either hold'em or one of the other games we've been looking at (Pineapple, crazy pineapple, Omaha, etc.). Those who are there could always decide what game to play, buy-in, etc.
For the league idea, which I think is best as it will promote showing up, since we're looking at one game a night I would recommend a $2 end of year prize pool, per night. That way, say we get 16 players a night, by the end of the year there would be over $300 for the end of year game, which like Kurt's would give starting chips for each based on overall points, with a minimum of say $1000 or something like that, though it would be based on the ranking points.
We're totally open to ideas, such as the one game per night idea, which I think many will like. Let us know your thoughts.

I like the idea that was posted about having a world series of poker. It could be a mix of different games-very different from Kurt's night. I don't think that Marc and I will drive 25 minutes for one game (expecially if I keep getting knocked out in the first 10 minutes.) Marc and I will be a mabey for this Friday's game. -Niki
Mohamad is in for Friday.
I'd suggest to try to have two games; or allow for rebuy in the first 2 hours if we are playing one game. This could work better for those who drive long way and keep getting knocked out early.
I will be there for Friday, 7/7.
I would prefer two games as well, maybe mixing in a different second game would be a nice change of pace. I like the idea of longer blinds and larger starting chip stacks. I doubt it will take that much longer if we get roughly half the people as the normal league night.
Mark
How about if we try this one long game this time with rebuys for the first hour. In case someone gets unlucky and knocked out real early. Or two games with the normal chip counts. When we get everyone's feedback we can send out a poll of two choices and the majority chooses the format for the night. I am willing to work it out so everyone gets to play most of the night.
I like to idea of 1 long game with a rebuy if you get knock out (or take a bad beat on the river) in the first hour or the first 2 - 3 levels depending on the length of the levels.
Kurt
I will be there this Friday.

I like the idea behind the rebuys for this Friday. It will allow those who get knocked out early to be able to stick around, plus it will add a different element to the tournament with every low stack trying to give their remaining chips away at the end of that first hour. Oh, and Kurt it wasn't a bad beat, I had the best hand when the money went in. Ace-small is always a favorite over King-Queen (I think I'm favored like 55% or something).
Anyway, I think it would be good to plan the one event with rebuys and then we can decide a little bit into it whether we'll be able to hold a second, different tournament.
So one question. Should this off night be a league, meaning points, end of year prize pool, etc. If it's a league it will probably help maintain activity and promote showing up. Also if we make it a league then we need to decide if only the first (longer) game is for standing or if both should be.
Let us know your thoughts.

My vote is for no league for the off week. Maybe I am being baised since I know I will not be making it every time. I would rather play different formats to see what works and to mix it up a little.
Kurt
Hi everybody. My personal thought on the off week poker games is for it not to be a league. First reason is not everybody, other than a couple of people, will show up from week to week. Also, if the off week is ran like Kurt's league is, the format gets old really fast. I like the idea of changing up the pace. I don't think having a secondary league is all that bad of an idea if it has a few new wrinkles that sets it apart from Kurt's league. Whatever you guys decide, I'll go along with.
Also, there was talk about a rebuys for this Friday's tournament. I like that idea, but what about add ons? Most rebuy tourneys offer add ons for players who are not knocked out to even up their stacks. Just a suggestion. Later

The idea of rebuy is good for this game, at least we can try it once.
Rebuy plus 1 odd-on make sense; but we have too many chips to start with and the game could last forever. The buying is 20 bucks so that could make it a 20 to 60 bucks game.
By the way, I'm in for Friday as well.

I'm not a big fan of rebuys, or add-ons, but I can see why people would want to throw a wrinkle or two in the off week game. If we're going to do rebuy's or add-on's, do we need to increase the buy-in to $20?
It seemed like the buy-in was upped since the plan was to only play one game. Do we need to up it with the rebuy's and add-on's included? To win the tournament now, it seems like you are going to have to put in at least $40.
Marc
I'm out for the 7/7 game(Lack of funds)
Since I'm not in I won't give my thoughts about the format.
See you all on the 14th
Bill
I see your point Marc, maybe what we can do is make it a $10 game starting chips 1500 and 1 rebuy for $10.00 within the first hour and then maybe we could play two games with a max $40 outlay for the night.
